About Fancy's on 5th Food

Fancy's on 5th built its reputation on two things: exceptionally fresh oysters and handcrafted burgers. Located at 430 41st Street South in Avondale, Birmingham, the restaurant sourced oysters daily from regional suppliers and paired them with house-made accompaniments: cocktail sauce, classic mignonette, and freshly grated horseradish.

The kitchen at Fancy's on 5th drew on the culinary experience of owners Harriet Despinakis and Paget Pizitz, who also brought Avondale the beloved MELT food truck and restaurant. The food program emphasized quality ingredients, daily rotation of fresh oysters, and burgers made with house-ground beef on fresh-baked brioche buns.
